35th Annual "Waimea Town Celebration" Kauai

This year is the 35th Annual "Waimea Town Celebration Week" which is held every year on Kauai in February. This experience was an awesome gathering with lots of entertainment, food, crafts, games, contests and lots of sporting events. The celebration started on Saturday, February 18, and continued on thru Sunday, February 26. This entire event was hosted by the West Kauai Business and Professional Association.

The first event on February 18, 2011 was the Kilohana Long Distance Canoe Race, followed later by the 4th Annual Historic Waimea Theater Heritage Day Activities, 12th Annual Waimea Round-Up Rodeo, Waimea Town Celebration, the 10k, 5k, and 2k run that ended up at the Waimea Plantation Cottages, 13th Annual Lappert's Ice Cream Eating contest, 13th Annual First Hawaiian Bank Hat Lei Contest, 15th Annual Ukulele Contest, Mountain Ball Tournament and the many other events that day.

There was a lot to cover along with the entertainment and food at the old plantation. It reminded me of the old Hawaiian days and it was an awesome experience to be there. Friday February 24-26 Sunday, was the Mountain Ball Tournament that was held at the Waimea Athletic Field and chaired by Laureen Naumu-Balocan and Donald Ouderkirk. Everyone I met had so much aloha and I want to thank them all for their hospitality, especially Chris Faye, Public Relations Chair of the event.
