On a wet and rain soaked field this past Friday night at Leilehua High School, Leilehua QB #7 Kenan Sadanaga (photo above) who only stands at 5'7", shut down the Moanalua varsity team, ending their season by a final score of 40-7. The Mules move on to face #2 Kahuku this coming Friday at Aloha Stadium. It was heartbreaking for the Na Menehue varsity team including the parents and friends who came out to support the team win or lose. As Coach Martinez told his team, there is no reason to look down, they should all be proud of themselves for a great season, and they all played well.
Moanalua's losses to Kailua 3-7, Kahuku 7-14 and Farrington 24-28 were tough ones, but with their win against Kapolei 30-13 last week, it placed the Na Menehune varsity into the playoffs. There was hope, but Leilehua's overwhelming aerial attack put an end to Moanalua's 2011 football season. At the end of the game, both teams came to the center of the field as one, and a prayer was given, followed by congratulations among all the players and coaches. The camaraderie was very touching, ending a great 2011 football season for the Moanalua Na Menehune in the OIA Red - East division. Moanalua JV also played this past Saturday and lost to Waianae 12-19. More stats "click here." To see the varsity action photos "click here." JV action photos at Waianae "click here."
