13th Annual Kelvin Mori Memorial Judo Tournament Salt Lake District Park


Today at Salt Lake District Park Gym, the 13th Annual Kelvin Mori Memorial Judo Tournament took place along with special guests of the 442nd RCT. Left to right (above) Kazuo Tomasa,  Medical Detachment, retired LikeLike School Teacher; Pvt. First Class Shiroku W. Yamamoto, Anti-Tank Company, retired from Aloha Airlines; and Tech Sgt. William Yoshita Thompson, President 442 Veterans Club Honolulu.

Natalie Roy, Executive Secretary 50th State Judo Association and Head Instructor, Aiea Hongwanji Judo Club related today's event was honoring Kelvin Mori who past on 13 years ago.  He was an instructor at Waipahu PAL, and he actually ran all the PAL Judo clubs in Hawaii.  Today, his best friend Jason Kanekuni, Head Instructor at the Wadokan Judo Club is hosting the event with Master of Ceremonies Kevin Funasaki (photo left).  Video "click here."
