A Scare for the Farrington Governors, 28-24 Against Moanalua Na Menehune

Last week, the Farrington Governors Varsity played against Kahuku at Roosevelt and just sneaked by 14-13. They got another scare tonight, but succeeded in maintaining their #1 spot in the the OIA Red - East Division against the Moanalua Na Menehune at Moanalua. The Governors scored first, but by the end of the 2nd quarter the Na Menehune's SB #1, Christian Akana scored a TD and kicker #33, Lee Arakawa made the extra point to tie the score 7-7. The Na Menehune's OL #70, Chris Lloyd also recovered a fumble in the end zone to take the lead in the 2nd quarter 17-7.

In the 3rd quarter, the Na Menehune held their ground against the Governors, but the Governors pushed hard and recovered a Na Menehune ball for a safety to bring the score to 17-9 with 1:04 left on the clock. Just into the 4th quarter, the Governor's RB #25, Abraham Silva ran in for a TD but the extra point failed. At 17-15 with 11:42 left on the clock, the Governor's DB #22, Leland Mitchell scored another TD to make it 17-21. With minutes left in the 4th quarter, both Moanalua and Farrington would score TDs to end the game 24-28, Farrington Governors. Although it was a disappointing loss for the Na Menehune, they should be proud to have come so close to defeating the first place Farrington Governors.

As for the Na Menehune JV, it was only their second loss. Moanalua started off the game with a fumble which was recovered by the Governor's RB #8, Chris Tuiasosopo for a TD and the extra point by kicker #44, Akui Hughes to lead the game with 6:31 on the clock in the 1st quarter. The Na Menehune came back in the 2nd quarter and 4th quarter with two TDs from RB #1, Ishmil Scott bringing the score to 13-19 in the 4th quarter with 8:44 left on the clock.
